Never would I think someone close to me will be having dengue.
Who is blameworthy?
This is ad's dengue medicalogue:
Day 1 (Mon-Tues):
Felt sick, no fever. continued to work
Day 3 (Wed):
Sudden chills, weak and feverish. Co. doc who suspected he's contracted dengue, took blood test. (*didn't realize they only took his platelet count test). Body rash on his hands that looked like hives.
Day 4 (Thurs):
Consistent high fever @ highest 39.6. 1st blood test result negative for dengue. Advised to stay at home, take medicine. Come back if feel unwell. Body rash started to spread on his back and body.
Day 5 (Fri):
Undimishing high fever. Went to A+E for 2nd blood test, result: 1 out of 6 test is positive for dengue. Advised to go home and rest. (*Seriously, if he was to go home, no one would have known he needed be on water parade every minute and his condition could have been more detrimental. Why didn't they ward him???). I asked Doc to admit him cos' no one's home to take care of him. Admitted with platelet level @ 184 (which is normal). And so….
Day 6 -7 (Sat-Sun): Spots started to appear on his feet and legs… Platelets dropped and had to be on a 24hr drip.
Day 8-10 (Mon-Wed): Blood test every morning to check his platelets level. On drips every 8pm-8am for the first two days of hospitalization. On Day 9, I bought him chee cheong fun w prawns. Seafood is a NO-NO… cos' he's got into a bad allergy itchy all over. Knowing his temper…………… well ****. Anyway the recipe that we checked : Frog and Mini Bittergourd essence really worked….. his platelets was at a low of 118 on Mon, after drinking the soup, it jumped to 186 (normal range) the next day! This recipe is really amazing! Though someone refused to think it's this that helped… Cmon.
Day 11 (Thurs): Finally free from dengue infection and discharged.
After he got discharged, it was when we saw the news report of the 1st dengue death of the 20 yr old man that really shocked us. Imagine if he wasn't warded, his fluid level would have been so low cos none of us would know how much water is needed and dehydration could cause his infection to attack his blood vessels. When his platelets counts is low, there might be gum bleeding and result in unnecessary bleeding. And talking about this, there was a 2nd death case of an older man…… gosh. this mozzie infection is getting quite out of hand. Take no chance man. Fight those mozzies.
