JooJoo, Joo Chiat

Was having Awfully Chocolate at Joo Chiat last week with Ad and saw Joo joo just beside, in the same restaurant. Apparently, they were sharing the same premise, located at the corner of Joo Chiat Rd (opp Katong Mall). I thought it was quite a nice place for dinner esp. when I saw in the menu 'Salmon Head', so last Sunday Ad n me went to try....... low and behold....

The FREE appetizer (bean paste sauce w vege sticks n raw cabbage)
Ok... interesting dish. Must be good, I thought... but the bean paste is a tad too saltish lor! On a scale to 10, its 9.9 saltish dao...... !

Garlic Rice $3.90 .... not the usual white garlic rice we usually have in other Jap restaurant. I thought at such a small serving, it should be very tasty so as to keep up with the price. Again, the rice is saltish! I really can't stomach it down after the 2nd spoon. I suspected the black bean sauce in the appetizer dish is used to stir fry this rice.... There's no taste of garlic at all. Just salt and bean sauce. Utterly. Disgusted.

Grilled Bacon w Quail Egg $4.90. (I'm not a bacon person but I find this two pieces of bacon too fat and have no meat at all)

Lamb Rack. $8.90 for 2 miserable racks is a total rip-off. Don't take this as a main dish, serving is pathetic :( Meat was really tasty and succulent I must say but just across the street at Aston's, 1 decent plate of grilled meat + 2side dishes is only $6.90.

Salmon Head $10.90.
TOTAL Rip-Off! This was supposed to be my main dish... For a salmon lover like me who love the skin, I couldn't eat this skin cos' it was all coated with SALT! WTF??? for what?? It's not that I wanna doubt the Chef's creation but as a Hotelier & F&B-ier myself for 3 years, I think this dish is spoilt by the amount of SALT being coated onto the poor n expensive fish. I could only dig into the meat and anything underneath that layer of SALT. WTF? The worst Salmon I've ever eaten. I remembered having the same kind of dish in Bangkok @ Ootoya. I just don't know how to appreciate eating SALTISH food. :(
I'm sorry JooJoo... I thought I could make you my 4th hangout place in that premise after Old HK Cafe, Astons & Everything with fries...... U've failed to impress me with the food and your exorbidant price :( I'm disappointed.... I thought as a sister company to EWF, you should have better food or at least, on par???
1/10. period. thumbs down.
My total bill mounted up to $30+... and I barely filled up 1/4 of my small stomach with the horrible dishes and servings. :(

  4. I just went to JOOJOO. I should have read the reviews first before heading there. It was an utter disappointment for me too! To think that Awfully chocolate is associated with JooJoo. Such a waste.
