Lunch @ Shashlik Restaurant

These are my critics for my 2nd time here :

1. Bad Stench! (Stale smell of wet carpet undried for months when I entered the restaurant)

2. Bread was soft and warm. Not too bad.

3. Borsch soup was OK, since it's their speciality. I am not a fan though.

4. Mushroom soup was bland & thin consistency. Fail.

5. Escargots are too tough & the meat is tasteless. I can only taste the garlic & butter.

6. All main course (from set lunch) comes with

- Blanched mixed vege (those peas, corns and carrots). They tasted horrible with no taste at all.

- French fries are too pathetic a portion. I can easily count it within my 10 fingers. It was 6-7 to be exact. They were dry, not hot & not crispy at all.

- Meats (Fish, Chicken, Steak) are all nicely done & very tasty I must say. This is so encouraging and comforting to know.7. Fruit Cocktail (served as dessert in the set lunch) was a big turn-off. They were canned cocktail topped with a dash of whipped cream. ?! What kind of dessert is this?

8. Banana Flambee is a total rip-off at $7 ! Just a pathetic scoop of vanilla ice-cream & a caramelized sauce with flambeed 1 no. of chopped bananas in rum. I thought they could at least serve it with a puff pastry, some biscuits or crepe so that the ice-cream can be separated from the sauce and will not melt so fast. The presentation was miserable. I could have gone for a more satisfying dessert @ Ben & Jerry's/Andersons.

9. Cold service from staff. Supposed to be one of the highly acclaimed restaurants for their food. One server walked up and asked us abruptly, "Our kitchen is closing in 5min. What else you want, better order now." OMG... I could faint at her last word. Ok, I do respect her cos' of her seniority... but but...sigh, I seriously think they need to improve and buck up on their food & service attitudes. I wonder what drives them or are they taught not to smile?

I'm not gg to spend my $$$ there anymore . Sad right?
