Sawasdee Bangkok - An Arts Film

Eversince I got the tickets online, I've been so excited and looked forward to watching this movie event at The Arts House. Saw N'Tom there... she wanted to meet me too cos' we've never met in person^^

Four talented Thai filmmakers give their take on Bangkok:

1. Sightseeing by Wisit Sasanatieng (Tears of the Black Tiger, Citizen Dog)

- is about a woman who is blind since birth, making a living by selling lottery tickets and lives under the bridge. Her biggest dream was to be able to see Bangkok, the city she lives in. She's only hear how Bangkok is like from the songs she heard on radio... One fateful night, an 'angel' came to her and told her about the beauty of Bangkok and brought her around the city though she couldn't see. When the 'angel' walked away in the crowd, she got knocked down by a bus when trying frantically to look for him (angel). The story ended when she could see Bangkok all made of gold & elephants strolling around. That was when she knew she's died from the accident.

2. Bangkok Blues by Aditya Assarat (Wonderful Town)

- is an amusing film about two mixed nationality guys (Ananda & Louis) relating to each other how very typical Thai gals behave. They joked about how slow female drivers are and hogging the roads. Louis' gf is very fierce to him yet on the other hand is flirting with Ananda, behind Louis' back. How one school gal is so open-minded and befriended Ananda. She got so fascinated when she knows Ananda studies overseas and plays skate-board. The story ended when Ananda & Louis try to enjoy the nature of the sounds of Bangkok.

3. Pi Makham by Kongdej Jaturanrasmee (Midnight, My Love)

- is a sad film about a prostitute (a spirit) who roams at the area Sanam Luang Park where she was stabbed and killed while waiting for her bf. One man picked her up and fell in love with her as she resembled his ex-gf. The spirit fell in love with him too but knew that they could not be together no matter how sincere he was. The story ended when she 'faded' into the woods by morning calls of the rooster, leaving the man startled at what he witnessed. He knew that she would not let him see her again as they were from two different worlds.

4. Silence by Pen-ek Ratanaruang (Last Life in the Universe, Nymph)

- tells about a funny drunken escapade of a girl. One night when she was driving home in her Mini Cooper, her car broke down in the middle of nowhere. Just then, a homeless bizzarre-filthy-smelly-beggar-looking man went up to her car anonymously and started to fiddle with her boot. She got frantic and shouted at him to get lost but he simply ignored her. When she realised that he was helping her fix her car and it worked, her car could start. She drove up to the man who has already walked away to give him 1,000baht as a reward. He stuffed the $ back to her window and then she realised he was deaf. She wrote to him on the note what he really want, he wrote back to her "อยากเห็นเธอพูดขอบคุณ" which means I want to hear you say Thank You... (and not give the $).
