Have already taken our advanced reunion so dinner tonite will be a simple Pig Organ's Soup & some veges with Mum & Me & Our Doggie Jill. Grandpa is invited over too.. cos' Uncle will be gg overseas with family. Last year our 2 families went to Long Beach together for reunion. After dinner, I will have to go to Adrian sis' house for some more 'reunion'. hehe..
Ok, my Relatives will be coming tomorrow...
Talking about them. I only see them once a year nowadays. During my childhood days when Grandparents owns the coffeeshop downstairs, I will get to see my Aunties & Uncles & play with my cousins every week. The bond was strong enough to know what the latest family news was. Until after Grandma pass away, we don't get such weekly gatherings already. ((Maybe don't 'need' to come after receving their inheritance, esp. the SONS?)) haa. joking. Anyway, geez is, we have distanced a lot now. Our only family gathering is the first day of CNY and Mum is always the "Buffet" organiser. She cooks for everyone for the past 10 years. Shall see what happens tmr cos' 2 families cannot make it this year due to some religious watch. Boring day I guess.
Get the Ang Pows then SEE how. ^___^
Guess this has been the long awaited day of most of us (*not married ones!)
- Long Weekend (Thurs, Fri, Sat, Sun)
- Red Packets
- Visiting & Gathering
- Goodies & Loads of Food
- Gambling!!! *Fav past time of Chinese*
Overheard the conversation of my colleagues in the office:
S: I just bought 3 "heads" of Abalone for my in-laws.
Only $100. U can go and buy too.
K: Is it? Where huh.. Cheap ley. I wana buy for my in-laws too.
S: There.. J8, basement 1...
S: So how much $ are U wrapping for your in-laws huh? I give $100.
J: Depends lor.. Can give $180, $120, even $28..
K: Huh? $28.. So little?
J: Depends on your relationship with them. Usually wrap $180 la... This kind of $$$ cannot be saved. Must give happily. U think the daughter U married over is worth little? Your in-laws have taken care of her for the past 30yrs HOR.
S: Ya, I am afraid of CNY. Have to spend a lot. Especially this year, my Mum asked me to buy the 'Yu Sheng'.
My Thoughts:
*Faint*
I have never knew that one must wrap red packets for in-laws. I used to think that buying gifts (bak gwa, love letters, other goodies) will be enough for the in-laws. One has to fork out loads of $$$$$ for the red packets, food stuff, formalities, gambling capital. Gosh...
OK, Happy Lunar New Year To Me, Myself, I and All. :)
